Mission Moment: Love Your Neighbors
Love Your Neighbor Next Door is Trinity’s community ministry outreach “umbrella” that encompasses a variety of activities, events and ministries serving our local community. They are led by different groups and committees including the Outreach/Missions Committee. Love Your Neighbor Next Door is the mission emphasis in January 2023. Join us in worship this Sunday to learn more!
Over the last two years Love Your Neighbor Next Door has included the following:
- Bilingual team starting up English Language classes on Saturday mornings
- Mi Casa a Su Casa providing furniture and household items to more than 25 families
- Food4Kids and grocery cards for families struggling with food insecurity
- Ongoing partnership with School District 59 including school fairs and Toys for Tots
- Collections/donations of non-perishable food and seasonal items (hats, mittens, scarves, and holiday gifts)
- Encanto movie night with Trinity Preschool
- Pride Witness
- Earth Day Clean-up event, Trunk or Treat and a Juneteenth Celebration.
Trinity has a long history of loving our neighbors. We are grateful for the leadership of so many who are passionate about continuing this tradition. Trinity Church, a Community Center with Christ at the Center, continues to find new ways to serve in and outside the building.
Trinity Members Attended MLK Day of Service
Trinity families, staff and friends celebrated the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday making Hearts for Hospice pillows and dog biscuits for sheltered animals, reading stories about Dr. King with children, and packing personal care bags for our homeless neighbors. This was the first Day of Service hosted by our sister Methodist church in Arlington Heights (FUMCAH) and we hope to partner with them for more community events in the future.
If you have an idea for service or ministry that will take the church out of the building, Community and Family Ministry Director Jacki Bogolia wants to connect with you!
