The season of Lent has begun!
What is Lent?
Lent is an invitation to do things differently, spiritually speaking.
It’s a forty-day journey towards Easter, which invites us to let go of what we no longer need, and be intentional about the state of our soul. Some people feel called to “give up” something for Lent, in order to make room for the Spirit to move. Others decide to “take on” a new practice, or spiritual discipline, in order to move along in the journey of discipleship.
This Lent, at Trinity, we invite you into a simple focus on The Lord’s Prayer. In worship, we’ll dig into the meaning and power of this prayer for our everyday living, inspired by scripture and music.
In our Life Groups For Lent, we’ll study The Lord’s Prayer more deeply.
What is a Life Group?
A Life Group is a small group, focused on supporting one another and growing in faith. During Lent, our Life groups will use the “Lord’s Prayer” Study as our focus. In the future, our Trinity Life Groups may be more focused on a specific need, like parenting, or anti-racism work, or mental health, or grief, using a guided curriculum. Lent 2022 is a time when we’ll be launching a few Life Groups, in preparation for more to come later in the year.
Because Lent is a time to seek new life, we want to encourage you to sign up for our Life Groups for Lent – most of these will meet Thursday mornings and evenings, but if you’d prefer another time, we will do our best to provide alternatives!
I want to prayerfully encourage you to commit to the journey of Lent by being intentional about 2 or more of the following:
- Worship attendance for at least 4 out of 6 Sundays of Lent, and plan to join us for Easter, April 17!
- Consider joining a Life Group for Lent, for 6 Thursday mornings or evenings
- Participate in our “40 day challenge” to offer food for the hungry
And I ask that everyone join me in praying The Lord’s Prayer, daily, March 2-April 17.
All of the info for sign-ups, and more info about the 40 day challenge, can be found here.
May the spiritual practices of Lent open us to the presence and possibility of new Life!
