Trinity’s Mission Moment for October
Kids Above All began in 1894 as the Methodist Deaconess Orphanage (later as Lake Bluff Home for Children). Today, it is a highly experienced, multidisciplinary child and family services network reaching children and families facing adversity in Cook, DuPage, Kane and Lake counties. Their focus is to improve the lives of vulnerable children and their families, foster parents, and other caregivers. Programs include foster care and adoption, group homes, child care, early childhood education and parenting support, military and veteran family support, and healthy life-style information. www.kidsaboveall.org
Trinity’s Mission Moment for September
September’s mission emphasis is PADS. The PADS Emergency Shelter Program provides hospitality, food and overnight shelter to the homeless. PADS is one of the programs offered through Journeys/The Road Home, a non-profit agency that also includes, the HOPECENTER Supportive Services Program and the Pathways Housing Readiness Program all focusing on assisting those in need.
Trinity began its active role in PADS 31 years ago. Trinity provided overnight shelter, hot dinner, breakfast and a sack lunch one night a week from October 1 to April 30th. Our PADS site closed with the pandemic. Journeys made arrangements to house the homeless guests in area hotels. We have packed hot meals for Hotel guests twice a month from September to May. In June, we participated in Summer Suppers, an organization of Suburban Churches feeding the homeless throughout the summer.
This Fall, we will continue to provide a hot meal once a month at a neighboring PADS Site. Your support is greatly appreciated as we follow Jesus’s lead to minister to the less fortunate.
