Mt. Prospect Band Concert
Mt. Prospect Community Band welcomes you to Sounds of Spring
with Music Director Monty Adams
hosted by Trinity United Methodist Church
Dear Friends at Trinity,
Thank you for your continued support of the Mt. Prospect Community Band. The pandemic has hit us all hard; however, it has only intensified our continued desire to perform good music together for the community.
I’m pleased to invite you to our Sounds of Spring concert on Sunday, March 20th at 3:30 pm here at Trinity. The program will include “Spring Overture” by Johan De Meij, “The Hounds of Spring” by Alfred Reed, and “Voices of Spring” by Johann Strauss Jr. featuring Mount Prospect’s own award-winning soprano soloist, Diana Stoic.
Please invite some friends to join you by celebrating the Sounds of Spring with the Mt. Prospect Community Band on March 20th.
Sincerely,
Monty Adams, Music Director, Mt. Prospect Community Band
Lent @ Trinity
Ash Wednesday Worship
March 2 at Noon (in person) and 7 pm (online and in person)
½ hour worship with prayer, song, movement and imposition of ashes – family friendly (if you can’t join us in person, please plan to zoom into the evening worship!)
The Journey of Lent is all about moving towards new life at Easter. Sometimes, we need to give something up (release) in our lives, in order to embrace the abundant life God wants for us and for our world. Sometimes, we need to take something on something new – an intention of some kind. Each week in the eblast, look for opportunities to give to others, ways to be intentional about giving something up or taking something on, and an invitation to discover the power of prayer and action through our all church focus on The Lord’s Prayer. It’s a prayer we say every Sunday, and some of us every day. How can we tap into its power to change the way we pray, and the way we follow Jesus?
Save the dates! Holy Week Worship
- Maundy Thursday Dinner Church at 6 pm – info coming on how to reserve your spot, for this simple catered meal and worship experience for all ages!
- Good Friday Worship with choir, scripture and song, featuring the Stations of the Cross
- Easter Worship at 10:30, with full choir and brass ensemble!
February is Black History Month!
In worship at Trinity, we’ll lift up the witness of African American spirituals, many of which are found in our own United Methodist hymnal. We’ll also learn how our Christian practices of Lament, Confession and Forgiveness, Restoration and Reconciliation can lead us towards more faithful discipleship in multi-cultural society.
Beyond worship, in our conversation and prayerful action – join Pastor Wendy and other leaders for a discussion of the book “Be The Bridge: Pursuing God’s Heart For Racial Reconciliation,” by Latasha Morrison. Books may be purchased online, in stores, or found at your local library. Book Discussion will be held on Thursday, February 24 at 7 pm, on zoom. Click here to register.
