Lent is a season when many Christians prepare for Easter by practicing fasting, repentance, moderation, and spiritual discipline. Ash Wednesday marks the first day of Lent, leading up to Easter Sunday and the resurrection of Christ. The application of ashes in the shape of a cross on one’s forehead symbolizes mortality and repentance, with a rich history in both Jewish and Christian worship. Traditionally, ashes have represented purification and sorrow for one’s sins.
Trinity United Methodist Church invites the entire congregation to participate in the Ash Wednesday Service at 7:00 pm on March 5, 2025. As you enter the sanctuary, you will experience the significance of Ash Wednesday through scripture readings, prayers, the imposition of ashes, and a blessing. Everyone is welcome.
